Dhoom 2 – A chip of the old block

Here is the bad news first – Aish does not wear a bikini. But the good news is, she sheds enough not to leave much to imagination. And Bipasha does wear one. Sometimes I wonder what is it that Kolkotta water has got that they make such voluptuous women out there.

The movie does not have much of script, as in there are a series of inconsistencies which even a lay person like me can point out. But I guess that’s the way it was meant to be. To cut a long story short – we have a thief who steals artifacts around the world and after every robbery leaves his mark. And a cop on his chase being outwitted each and every time, of course in the end, when he catches up. I mean, the good guy has got to win. How unoriginal can you get?.

But this is where the movie works. It’s like a good old “Manmohan Desai” movie with a series of interesting items put together. With some love scenes between Hrithik and Aish not withstanding, it clearly works on what it promises.
The kissing between Aish and Hrithik is totally thanda. I guess at this rate, Aish’s chemistry with her co-stars will be history in sometime. And since we are on the subject of chemistry, the best chemistry in the movie is between, Abhishek and Uday. Though the comedy between them will be seriously understood by the strictly Mumbaiya types ( or to make it even more particular the strictly Nagpada types). The rate at which Hindi films are speaking Mumbaiya hindi, I wonder, whether wo din door nahi jab saara Hindustan mumbaiya bolega?

Now back to the movie. So as Mr Chor is planning his next theft, after having successfully carried out two in India, Mr Police comes to know that the next theft is going to be in Rio De Janeiro. Mr Chor also has a Miss Chorni along with him now. So they all land up there. Well, come on, it’s a Yashraj Films movie yaar. Thoda sa foreign shooting hona mangta na yaar. And how long can they keep showing their heroines in chiffon saris in snow capped Switzerland. So for the first time the Indian audience is exposed to the magic they call Brazil.

Of course, when you have Brazil, you got to have babes in bikinis. And this is where the second Bipasha Basu comes in ( yeah she has got a double role). And by God, she can’t act. But then if you have what she has, who needs to act? Check her out in the scene, when Uday Chopra and her do a Baywatch. She gives Pamella Anderson a run for her money. Hope Hollywood is watching.

So after some good skin show and a couple of songs later, Mr Chor decides to steal what he has wants to steal. And then you have the usual bike chases, Matrix style fights ( I guess fight director Allan Amin is never going to get over his Matrix fixation) and as is mandatory these days, a little twist thrown in at the end. Of course, as I said earlier, Mr Police wins.

The movie is paisa vasool….ummm…almost I must say. Aish does not wear a bikini. Guess this was her best chance. She ain’t getting any younger. And for those watching the movie, dimaag bagal main rakh kar dekhne ka!

Well, I think Bips' role in the movie was completely uncalled for, except that Ash probably refused to wear a bikini so they wrote in a very sketchy role for Bips. And really Ash is so thanda, so thanda, it's not even funny.
